Books Books And More Books

Last night I was thrilled to recieve my book order from Amazon. You could say I'm becoming a "lover of books"; as today I headed to Valu Villa (a consingment shop in town that always has tons of books) and came home with a shopping bag full of books. Today I found five "Nancy Drew" and "The Complete Tales and Poems of Winnie-the-Pooh". I purchased "The Complete Tales and Poems of Winnie-The-Pooh" because my sister mentioned a while back that reading these particular stories aloud to children are good for their language skills. Included in my Amazon order were six Books by Elizabeth Enright and "The Child's Story Bible"; a must have for family reading time.

My First Purse

Growing up, I spent countless hours watching my grandmother and mother crochet. When I was twelve, I was ready to make my first afghan. My poor mother probably almost went crazy trying to teach me. Those of you who have twelve year olds understand exactly what I mean by that comment. I had to use my favorite color blue, but not only did it have to be blue, it had to be four shades of blue. As my skills and reading abilities became better I didn't need moms instructions as much (thank goodness). I'm sure I went to school being tired many days because many nights I would stay up into the late hours of the night crocheting. Yes, I'm sure I spent many nights underneath the covers crocheting with a flashlight. If only I could have had the same passion for my schoolwork.
Now that I'm 34, (although James assured me the other day I was 35 and we had to go through the counting of what year I was born etc.) my crocheting skills are advanced enough that I'm able to design my own purses and bags. This is my first purse and I proudly carried it to church today.

The Herd Family

My sister, Mrs. Herder, whipped these p.j.'s up for Christmas for my nieces and nephews. She says they are quite simple to make but for me they would probably be quite the challenge.
The p.j.'s and hats are awefully cute but what I love the most is the kids who are wearing them!

Poor Lily

My poor dog, Lily. I'm always taking crazy photos of her. My sister and her four children love sending me packages. Last month I was happy to open a package from them and found this crazy mullet for my dog! I was able to keep it on her long enough to take a few pictures.
